NABCEP

Associate Credential

EdComm's NABCEP Photovoltaic (PV) Associate's program is a robust 40 hour package that has been specifically designed to seamlessly support your current STEM or CTE scope and sequence.  As with all of our content, you will be fully supported by our team of subject matter experts and master teachers while having access to an industry heavy advisory board whose entire focus is getting your students hired.

Overseen by the Department of Energy and the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC), the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) is the gold standard for certifications/credentials within the renewable energy industry.

EdComm's NABCEP program is a completely turnkey, NABCEP approved package that includes the following four (4) components:

1) Approved curriculum & Test site Application

We make sure that your school is outfitted with all required elements to become a NABCEP PV Associate's Credential provider and test site.  This includes syllabus, daily lesson plans and corresponding slides, hands on and engaging indoor and outdoor labs, textbooks, and your site specific NABCEP application package.

This is a 40 hour, stand alone photovoltaic bootcamp that can be customized to fit into an existing STEM subject or CTE program at your school!

We build everything for you and work with your teachers to qualify them to become NABCEP authorized instructors and testing coordinators.

Our curriculum is created by solar installers and electricians who work in the field.

Relevant chapters of the National Electric Code are written into each curriculum section and lab practices.

2) Indoor/Classroom Equipment

We believe in teaching through application and our curriculum comes with job site quality hardware and tools that are essential for lab exercises written into our offerings.

The 40 hour program is supplemented with robust classroom photovoltaic hardware that can be built into a functioning off-grid solar electric system, including:

GenSets. At the heart of our classroom offerings you'll find these mighty, mobile solar generators.  GenSets are ideal for classroom lab projects and on-site, remote power demands.

LabSets. Consisting of modules, charge controllers, inverters, battery banks, fusing, cabling, and connectors.  Lab assignments utilize each component, providing project based learning throughout the course.

ClassSets, ToolSets, LoadSets. Include shade analysis and outdoor power optimization hardware and software, safety equipment, meters, industry quality tools, and jobsite loads for a fully engaged classroom.

Great for recruiting.

Tough enough for the field.

3) Outdoor Equipment (Optional)

We build and install your outdoor training structure for a hands on installation experience that is recommended by NABCEP!

EdComm provides a number of expert solutions in the construction of outdoor training structures.  This includes fall prevention and fall protection equipment, additional shade analysis tools and software, and azimuth and inclination metering.

4) Professional Development

Before launching into our curriculum, we provide train-the-trainer sessions to each of our clients.  These are delivered in two courses.

The first course is a 40 hour self-paced offering with our partner, Dr. Sean White (recipient of IREC's 2014 Trainer of the Year).  During this online course, attendees will become familiar with employing basic applications in photovoltaics.

The second course is administered by EdComm field instructors.  During this 40 hour in person course, attendees will add complexity and confidence to their understanding of photovoltaics while being trained on managing curriculum outlines and lesson plans, implementation of textbooks and lab project assignments, and specific equipment.

Our professional development team provides hands-on

teaching knowledge and competency to your instructors.
